In Indore, the introduction of an advanced vehicle monitoring system at checkpoints is expected to create a transparent environment and improve logistical efficiency. Transporters and truckers in the region, which serves as a key commercial center in Madhya Pradesh, support this initiative. Around 4,000 commercial vehicles depart from Indore daily, a number that rises during festive periods. Despite efforts to streamline vehicle movement by replacing check posts with checkpoints, the lack of a robust monitoring system hinders these plans. Stakeholders, including the Indore Truck Operators and Transport Association, have urged the government to implement a technology-driven solution for monitoring vehicle movements at checkpoints. This, they believe, will prevent disruptions and address issues of alleged extortion. The association has reached out to Transport Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh to advocate for the adoption of a tech-based monitoring system. Additionally, the All India Motor Transport Congress has recommended expediting the implementation of the Gujarat model in Madhya Pradesh. Truckers have also requested the establishment of a helpline and an official app for reporting complaints. Following the state government's announcement on July 1 to remove all check posts at interstate borders, transporters have welcomed the move, as it aligns with their long-standing goal of promoting smooth transport operations and reducing corruption.
